Manchester United: Following the confirmation of Darren Fletcher’s three-match ban, Ruben Amorim will not play.

Van Nistelrooy’s last game as manager of United will be missed by the coach. For his misbehaviour during Manchester United’s Premier League encounter against Brentford last month, Darren Fletcher was given a £7,500 fine in addition to a three-match extended touchline ban. After determining that the FA’s claims that the United coach behaved inappropriately and/or confrontationally and/or used derogatory and/or abusive language towards the fourth official, the referee, and/or assistant referees in the tunnel area during halftime could be verified, an independent Regulatory Commission imposed the sanction. In an incident that occurred after Brentford scored while Matthijs de Ligt was off the pitch getting care for a head cut, Fletcher acknowledged his misbehaviour but denied being nasty. Fletcher and Erik ten Hag, the United manager at the time, complained after the referee pulled the United defender off again after he had previously been bandaged up after being kneed in the head. Due to the punishment, Fletcher will not be present at either of Ruben Amorim’s first two league games against Ipswich and Everton, or Ruud van Nistelrooy’s final game as interim manager against Leicester on Sunday.
