“It is exactly what Tennessee needed,” Louis Riddick says, expressing his confidence that Cam Ward will alter the Titans’ course.

As early as January, Miami University transfer quarterback Cam Ward was the overwhelming favorite to be selected first overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, despite some hesitancy in the pre-draft process. The oddsmakers were correct as usual. In April, the Tennessee Titans drafted Ward first overall, and nobody questioned or objected to the choice. And why would they? There isn’t really anything about this guy that somebody could try to turn into a bad thing, other from those two transfers.

Accuracy, power, awareness, foot speed, and processing speed are all skills he possesses at the quarterback position, and he has also been saying the right things off the field. Ward’s leadership, both on and off the field, appears to be just what the doctor ordered for this Titans club in transition. As the Titans enter a new era, even ESPN’s Louis Riddick thinks Ward is the ideal captain for the team. “Cam is a real dude. He is all about the ball. He is also an extremely skilled orator. Regarding the ability to mouth back and forth with teammates as well as the opponent. Hold oneself and one’s teammates accountable.

In every way, he is a tier one leader. It was precisely what Tennessee required. The ESPN commentator also discussed Ward’s current level of respect from the team’s leaders. The rookie’s ability to straddle the tightrope and “smack talk with the best of them while still taking instruction” from head coach Brian Callahan has reportedly pleased All-Pro defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons. This is multitasking! Another excellent statement from Ward regarding his plans for the month or so between minicamp and training camp served as the impetus for Riddick is remarks. In addition to demonstrating his dedication and feeling of duty, his remark also demonstrated that he doesn’t take himself too seriously.

Cam Ward is being prepared for success with the Titans thanks to a strong running back tandem in Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears, a sneakily strong receiver room led by Calvin Ridley and Tyler Lockett, and a completely redesigned offensive line that includes two first-round picks in the last three years in addition to a free-age Pro Bowl recruit. Not to be overlooked is Callahan, who played a key role in transforming Joe Burrow into a top quarterback. Ask Burrow himself, who has frequently waxed poetic about his old OC, if you don’t believe us.

The Titans’ nine victories over the past two seasons tie them for third-fewest. They also passed for the fifth-fewest passing yards in that time frame. Cam Ward is come to change all of that, and thus far, there is no sign that he won’t succeed.
