Prior to the Chiefs-Broncos Week 10 matchup, Patrick Mahomes provides an update on his ankle injury.
After a near injury scare during Monday night’s 30–24 overtime victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it looks like Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be alright. The Chiefs’ medical team assisted Mahomes in leaving the field halfway through the fourth quarter after he landed awkwardly and rolled his ankle during a play that resulted in a touchdown pass to running back Samaje Perine that was seven yards long.Against the Bucs, Mahomes never missed a snap. He led the game-winning drive in overtime then returned under centre to lead Kansas City’s subsequent possession. During his media appearance on Wednesday, the 29-year-old quarterback provided an update on his ankle. According to ESPN’s Adam Teicher, Mahomes stated, “When you have a little bit of a roll, it’s a little bit sore.” I can move around, though, and I’m excited to get out and practice so I can see how much I can improve over the course of the week.As Kansas City prepares for their Week 10 game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium, head coach Andy Reid assured reporters that Mahomes will not be restricted by the coaching staff throughout practice this week. With 1,942 yards, 11 touchdowns, and nine interceptions in eight games this season, Mahomes has an 18th-highest passing rating of 90.1 among NFL quarterbacks.
